Lisa, Boulder CO 2011
This is Lisa. Isn't she stunning!? This was an incredible project to work on and Lisa was an amazing bride to work with.
She came to me with a selection of photos of gowns that she liked, most of which included silk organza with flowers or leaved made out of fabric. This made me remember arriving to my grandmother's house every Thanksgiving and seeing the place cards at each table. The were made out of glycerine-preserved maple leaves. I suggested to Lisa that we use the same method and preserve real aspen leaves to use in her gown. I think that some of the leaves even came from her wedding site: Wild Basin Lodge in Allenspark, Colorado.
The leaves are nestled and hand-stitched into layers of silk organza. The bodice is made out of hemp/silk, per Lisa's request. The skirt is made from silk shantung and the dress is fully lined with a soft silk cotton.
Thanks, Lisa, for such a dreamy project!
